The Rainy Season

The heavy rains in Tanzanian usually start on the 1st of April and carry on until the 1st of June. This “heavy rain period” should be avoided if you are planning to visit the beach or climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

Migration

In April the wildebeest migration is spread out across the plains of the northern Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the southern Serengeti.

At the end of May, when the rains stop, the herds start moving towards Lake Victoria and the Western Serengeti.

By June, the migration is in full motion as the herds move from the plains to the Western Serengeti. This mass movement of the migration makes it an exciting time for a safari in the Serengeti.

Birth Season

Rain season is a birth season for most animals. During this time, many baby animals hidden in the short grass plains of the southern Serengeti can be spotted.

Scenery

In May, the month immediately after the rainy season, the Tanzanian parks are covered with greenery and flowers, making it a breathtaking sight to see.
